After a three-year hiatus, the Samar State University Student Organization Fair finally made its comeback this year via “RAYHAK: SSU Student Organization Fair 2022” held at the SSU Grounds, November 23, in lieu of the university’s 18th Charter Day celebration.
The one-day fair, organized by the University Student Council (USC), was participated by the provincial and municipal government of each college including the Provincial Governments of the College of Engineering, College of Education, College of Arts and Sciences, and College of Industrial Technology.
Various accredited student organizations also took part in the said fair including Institute of Computer Engineers – Student Edition, Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers – Student Chapter, Institute of Electronics Engineers – Student Chapter, Institute of Electrical Engineers, Information Technology Society, Information System Society, Psychology Society, Statistics Society, Chi Alpha, Delta Epsilon, Red Cross Youth, KAUPOD, and The Tradesman.
In her opening remarks, USC President Christine Calley expressed her gratitude towards the participating organizations.
“Together with my colleagues in the University Student Council Main Campus, we express our warmest thanks to all of the organizations that participated [in] this event despite the fact that there was a very short time or timeframe nga amon ginhatag ha iyo. Kun waray kamo, dire ine mahidadayon nga activity. Kudos to all our accredited organizations!” told Calley.
The event formally commenced with a ribbon cutting led by the USC President and Vice President Jason L. Dela Peña, together with Student Welfare and Development Services (SWDS) Director Dr. Mae Cañal, Student Affairs and Services Vice President Engr. Maria Lourdes Amante, and the presidents of each college’s provincial and municipal government and of the different accredited organizations.
The organization fair aimed to provide an avenue to build camaraderie among tradesmen and have fun through academic and extracurricular interests and advocacies.
Closing Program
University Student Council Vice President Jason Dela Peña exhorted the student organizations in his closing remarks to “be the change, be the purpose, and be an inspiration”.
“Student organizations, always challenge ourselves na ipadayon an pagrayhak han aton mga adbokasiya, purposes, and passion,” Dela Peña remarked.
The event concluded with giving of certificates of appreciation to all participating organizations and presentation of special awards which were bagged by KAUPOD for Most Organized Booth; CIT SSC for Most Visited Booth; and The Tradesman for Best Booth Design.
