LOOK | Dressed as book and movie characters, the Society of English Majors (SEM) held its annual SEM Party as the culminating activity for this year’s English Month celebration at the 3/F Convention Center, November 28.
Attended by the acting college dean, Language faculty, and all year levels, the event highlighted a candle lighting and ribbon tying ceremony to formally welcome the freshmen and to wish lower years good luck in their endeavors in the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English program.
Moreover, SSU Quality Assurance Assistant Janet Padilla in her inspirational message encouraged English majors to leverage their skills to make a positive impact on the world.
“You are not just a student of literature and linguistics—you are a student of humanity. Keep learning, keep growing, and never underestimate the power of your words. With persistence, passion, and the right choices, you can connect with the world and leave a lasting impact,” she stated.
Meanwhile, as November comes to a close, SEM President Isabel Labay asserted, “Today is the end of our English month celebration, but this is definitely not yet the end of my term, so sit back, relax, and wait for what we have store for you.”
