The College of Industrial Technology (CIT) completely dominated the championship court as they left SSU Paranas Campus in devastation, 103-66, in the finals game of the men’s basketball tournament of the SSU Palaro 2024, held at the SSU Gymnasium.
CIT managed to take the crown from the defending champions with class, overwhelming SSU-PC with an outstanding 47-point lead to end Paranas’ reign in the Palaro.
Paranas Campus started out strong as they held the lead against CIT, boosting their confidence early in the match.
However, the leadership of Mark Nathaniel Gilhang served as a beacon of hope for CIT, helping them bounce back in the game and take the lead by the end of the first quarter, 22-19.
After a close fight in the first quarter, CIT went into frenzy mode as they listed a 6-0 run against the opposing team.
With momentum on their side, CIT forced Paranas Campus to commit unforced turnovers, allowing CIT to expand their lead, 42-28.
Entering the third quarter, Paranas Campus started strong again, answering back with a 6-0 run of their own. This shift mildly tilted the game’s tempo to their favor, cutting the lead to single digits, 34-42.
Despite the pressure, Rodjie Calda took over, performing momentum-shifting penetration plays that led CIT to extend their lead to 18 points, 70-52.
Building on their lead, CIT completely controlled the fourth quarter, outscoring SSU-PC by 51-14 during this period and ending both the game and Paranas’ dynasty in the SSU Palaro, 103-66.
