Samar State University’s Team easyE, composed of BS Electronics Engineering (ECE) students, were once again hailed as champions of the Alfredo M. Yao Intellectual Property Award, held in Taguig City on October 9, marking their second consecutive year of winning the award.
Under the mentorship of Engr. Justin Manuel Mora, Engr. Nikko Ardel Floretes, and Engr. Walvies Mc Alcos, Mark Cris and his fellow ECE students clinched the award with their innovative study titled “The Synergistic Effect of Light and Sound in Enhancing Squid Fishing Efficiency: A Novel System Approach to Marine Resource Management for Intelligent and Sustainable Practices.” Their research introduces a groundbreaking squid fishing technique utilizing light and sound patterns to attract and manipulate squid behavior.
Last year, Team easyE also claimed the championship title for their study titled “MASAG (Mud Crab Attracting System with Application of Generated Frequency),” further cementing their reputation for pioneering research.
The AMY Innovation Awards serves as a platform that recognizes inventors, entrepreneurs, and students contributing to the development of innovative products and services, enhancing business productivity and economy.
Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded to the winners during the Philippine Business Conference at the Marriott Grand Ballroom, Pasay City on October 22, 2024.
In addition, Samar State University achieved its first AMY Award in the Professional Category with their innovative study titled “MAPULON.ion: Smart Mapping of Agricultural Production Using Locational Optimization and Spatial Data Analytics,” deemed the grand winner.
