The night of October 4 was made elegant as Arki students from SSU graced the Nocturnal Party: Arki Gatsby Night 2022 with glitz and glamour at the SSU Gymnasium, in connection with the World Architecture Day (WAD) celebration with the theme, “Architecture for well-being.”
The said event was hosted by the United Architects of the Philippines Student Auxiliary – SSU Chapter officers.
Present in the event were the University President Dr. Marilyn Cardoso, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Felisa E. Gomba, the newly passed and pioneering Architects of SSU, CIT Faculty and Staff.

Moreover, the Program Chair for Architecture Ar. Maricel L. Modesto presented the four students from SSU who passed the Architecture Licensure Examination (ALE) namely: Ar. Arven Ribb Carbrito, Ar. John Noel Catampo, Ar. Alyssa Paola Penaranda, Ar. Jheraldine Rueda. Only Ar. Penaranda was not present in the activity.
University President Cardoso in her congratulatory message expressed her warm tribute for the honorees and to the faculty members of the Architecture program.
“Tonight, indeed, is a celebration of success. This could be a night of glitz and glamour that will pay tribute to the first four licensed architects produced by the Samar State University. The Magic four will serve as the inspiration to all BS Architecture Students,” said Cardoso.
“Let us not forget your teachers who are here with us always from the College of Industrial Technology, because without them we will not have our first 4 architects,” she added.
Correspondingly, the honorees were given time to express a message of gratitude and inspiration. Ar. Rueda gave the young, aspiring architects of SSU the advice to “Learn to rest, not to quit” in her message.
A ceremonial toast was made by Ar. Ulysses Eduardo De Guia to the newly registered SSU architects. Known guests of the activity were given certificates and tokens appreciation before the testimonial dinner came to a close.
The newly elected officers of the UAPSA – SSU Chapter took their oath headed by the inducting officer the Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Felisa Gomba. The induction of the members of UAPSA lead by Ar. Ulysses Eduardo De Guia.
In her words of gratitude, UAPSA – SSU Chapter President Godess Cañones thanked all the people behind the success of the said activity and took inspiration of the newly registered Architects to “be inspired with what they have gone through, and to push themselves to continue”
Acquaintance Party
Meanwhile, the acquaintance proper kick-off with fun during the fashion show for the Best Dress portion of the activity. Best Dress were named: Ted Salvador Casaus and Merry Joy Lumen. The head turners were Christ Palmiano and Edzel Mae Alcabasa.
The event also featured various performances from the talents of Arki students, spoken word poetry, song performance, and dance presentations.
On the other hand, the first-day activity’s winners were also acknowledged. Francis Tanseco, the winner of the Still-life rendering competition, Dominic Centino, champion for the Design Concept Competition, and the Blue Team were the winner of the Team Building competition.
