International students from Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Indonesia, and Tra Vinh University (TVU), Vietnam visited SSU – Paranas Campus on the fourth day of the 2024 International Summer Camp, August 15.
Highlights of the campus visit were the Banugan Festival presentation headed by Gaspar Rotap, cooking demonstration by SSU-PC students, and folk dance presentation by Banugayaw dancers.
On behalf of Paranas Campus Director Dr. Lourdes Delmonte, Office of Student Affairs and Services Coordinator Dr. Arnel Mabingnay highlighted in his welcome message that “the presence of international students is a testament to international collaboration and a shared quest of knowledge and cultural exchange.”
Moreover, international students answered questions from SSU-PC students about their favorite activities in Samar, their home country’s education system, and why they recommend visiting UB and TVU.
Nguyen Duong Thu Nguyet, the only International Education Institute staff accompanying the international students, expressed in her participant message her belief that the first summer camp between SSU and TVU would not be the last, anticipating “there will be more opportunities for diverse and various exchange programs” in the future.
The first international summer camp hosted by SSU will end on Friday via a Catbalogan City tour and a culminating activity with booths to be showcased by the different colleges of SSU Main Campus.
Meanwhile, from August 17-24, the second leg of the camp will be hosted by Northwest Samar State University of Calbayog City.
