Carlos Yulo performed a historic feat as he delivered the first gold medal for the Philippines in the men’s floor exercise at the 2024 Paris Olympics at the Bercy Arena on August 3.
The Filipino gymnast recorded a score of 15.000 during his graceful routine, with splits of 6.600 for difficulty and 8.400 for execution, enabling him to notch the top spot in the floor exercise.
Yulo managed to outshine the top performing athlete and defending titleholder, Israel’s Artem Dolgopyat, as he completed his performance with a score of 14.966, finishing as the silver medalist.
By winning at the Summer Olympics, Yulo added another title to his collection, as he is already a champion in the Asian Games, SEA Games, and now the Olympics.
Carlos Yulo now joins Hidilyn Diaz as an Olympic champion representing the Philippines, becoming the second Filipino athlete to achieve this honor.
