As its annual culminating activity, the USC’s PASIDUNGOG 2024: Araw ng Parangal at Pagkilala held yesterday, June 14, featured their accomplishment report, visionary map, and recognition for USC officers, commission members, and accredited student organizations at the SSU Convention Center.
Present at the event were University President Dr. Redentor S. Palencia and the Director of the Student Welfare and Development Services Dr. Mae V. Cañal, who both expressed their messages for the students and presented the awards to the corresponding recipients.
“Dear students, as we honor and recognize you today, please remember that I personally, we, your teachers, we, the officials of Samar State University, we are so proud of you. You have exemplified the university’s core values of leadership, excellence, discipline, and service,” said President Palencia in his inspirational message.
Meanwhile, Dr. Cañal shared her sentiments of gratitude towards the student leaders, “Your perseverance in facing challenges and steadfast determination to guide [and] at the same time to mentor others… thank you so much for leading the organization. You have shown what it means to be a true leader.”
One of the highlights of the evening was the acknowledgement and awarding of the top performing USC officers, commission members, accredited student organizations, as well as the college Governor for this year’s Pasidungog. The recipients of the coveted awards are as follows:
In no particular order, the Top 5 performing accredited student organizations are:
- Delta Epsilon Fraternity and Sorority – SSU Chapter
- Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) – SSU Student Chapter
- Psychology Society
- Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines Student Edition (ICpEP.SE) – SSU Chapter
- Educators’ Guild
Sunshine Cruz of College of Industrial Technology was also hailed as most outstanding provincial governor.
Rounding up his term and creating a full circle moment for his council, USC President Joshua A. Ibajo proudly exhibited the USC’s accomplishments throughout the academic year such as the SAMARYANIHAN: Tradesmen Relief Operation for Northern and Eastern Samar, Kamagkarit: Student’s Week 2024, and the Resilient Leadership Training and Team Building 2024 among others.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as your President. This role has taught me so much… let us continue to work together, support one another, and strive for excellence in all that we do. For, and always for, the Tradesmen,” said Ibajo.
Additionally, this year’s visionary map entails the same goals as last year’s incumbent USC President Christine O. Calley, which are the Organizational Fair and Freshman Walk, Revision of Constitution and By-laws, and Organizations Assembly.
Lastly, to formally end the program, Mark Anthony P. Alavata, USC Adviser, delivered his closing message, “May this recognition bring you closer to Him, and continue to serve Him by serving your fellow. Serve with your heart not for your own glory but for the glory of God. As future leaders of this country, may you keep this nation a place of godliness.”
