Samar State University conducted the Federation Election of USC officers from Paranas, Mercedes, and main campus held at SSU Main Gymnasium on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.
A total of 44 USC officers from the different SSU campuses attended the election at the venue, and 5 USC officers via zoom meeting.
The three USC presidents of their respective campuses were nominated for the position for Federation President. Namely, Lobela Bulos of Main campus, Mac Reymark Mabilangan of Paranas Campus, and Luis Cañedo of Mercedes Campus. With a total of 24 votes, Cañedo was elected as the President of the Federation.
The voting of the position of Vice-President resulted in a tie of 21 votes between Lobela Bulos and Mac Rermark Mabilangan, the COMELEC then decided to resolve it with a coin toss, which resulted Bulos being the new Vice President.
Milben G. Abalos was elected as the Secretary with 20 votes, Trina Mei D. Pacios as the Treasurer with 21 votes, Rachel Fabillar as the elected Auditor with 20 votes, and Zesa Mae Calutan as the elected Mass Media Officer with a total of 19 votes.
Shortly after, the newly elected officers had their induction and oath taking at SSU Convention center, with the presence of the University President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, Vice President for Students Affairs & Services Engr. Ma. Lourdes P. Amante, Dr. Redentor Palencia, and SSU COMELEC Officers.
Dr. Cardoso then proceeded to give an inspirational speech on how the newly elected officers should be role models and serve as the bridge between management and the students, one who is not too loud and not too silent, but remains ready to fight for what is just and right.
The newly elected federation President Mr. Luis Cañedo will be representing the entire student body in the upcoming board meeting with the different heads, and various stakeholders of SSU.
