The Chinese New Year marks the start of the lunar new year. Also known as Spring Festival, it is considered as one of China’s most important celebrations, with each year being named after one of the 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac. Under proclamation 986, Chinese New Year is one of the special (non-working) holidays in the country this year.
