— Martin Luther King Jr.
Martin Luther King Jr. was a visionary and social activist leader of the civic rights movement in the United States from the mid-1950s until his death in 1968. King led to fight and end the legal segregation of African Americans in the South and other parts of the United States.
Deemed as the only federal holiday dedicated to volunteerism in the United States, we continue the visionary’s notable legacy through observing the day “with acts of civic work and community service”.
In the present day, discrimination continues to prevail impacting not only black people, but also people of different races or ethnic groups. Let us not forget our mission to be movers change, for equal rights and treatment of all individuals.
