Strength in diversity.
Let’s join forces and find strength in diversity today, December 3, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities with this year’s theme, “United in action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for, with, and by persons with disabilities,” aiming to empower these individuals and promote their active participation in society.
According to the World Health Organization, over 1.3 billion people worldwide, or 1 in 6 individuals, face significant disabilities. Envisioning these numbers in a positive light brings us to an advantage, realizing the crucial role that persons with disabilities may play in attaining the SDGs and understanding how uniquely they can contribute to bringing us closer to that shared goal. This year’s observance emphasizes PWDs as integral in carrying out the SDGs, making an equal case for organizing them.
Let us stand united for, with, and by persons with disabilities.
