Following the launching activity earlier, SSU’s Advocacy on Gender and Women Advancement for National Development (SAGWAN) hosted an opening program in support for the nationwide observance of the 18-day campaign to end Violence against Women and Children (VAWC).
Preceding the program was a parade of hope joined by SSU faculty, students, and staff wearing orange in participation with the call of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) to attract discourse and advocate for the Anti-VAW Campaign.
“The purpose of this campaign is to increase awareness about the pervasive and devastating nature of violence against women and their children. By shining a spotlight on this issue, we aim to ignite a sense of urgency and mobilize individuals, community, and institutions to join the fight against gender-based violence,” SAGWAN Director Charmaine Quina said in her opening message.
The program was enlivened with a zumba dance for the participants led by selected CoEd and CAS students bringing dynamic moves to the event.
