Set to leave for Baybay City tomorrow, competing athletes, coaches, and officials of Samar State University for the upcoming Regional State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) 8 Games turned up for a final briefing at the SSU Gymnasium earlier today, October 19.
University President Dr. Marilyn Cardoso, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Engr. Ma. Lourdes Amante, Sports Development Program Director Dr. Randy Pacadaljen, and SSU Supreme Student Council Federation President Leahrine Cabangunay also made an appearance at the rundown.
Highlights of the event were the updates on kitchen rules, medical and health cues, vehicle assignments, athletes’ documents and allowance, and delegation rules.
VPSAS and Assistant Head of Delegation Engr. Amante emphasized that all athletes, coaches, and officials alike should strictly follow the rules and regulations.
She also added that athletes must strive to go for gold for further corresponding incentives.
Meanwhile, in her inspirational message, University President and Head of Delegation Dr. Cardoso urged the athletes to do their best in their respective sports.
“Be the best in whatever sports you are in. Kun magkamay-ada opportunity, Samar State University will be sending you outside [the country,] kinahanglan la talaga nga nakikita an iyo excellence in the sports that you have chosen,” President Cardoso said.
“Your heart, your character, will truly define your victory. It’s about how many teammates or opponents you have won as friends and what values you have developed in every dribble, in every serve, and in every performance. You are not just players, we would like you to also become dreamers— let us dream bigger, diri la pan-national, pan-international,” she added.
Said event wrapped up with reminders that the SCUAA uniforms will be distributed to the athletes at 3:00 PM today at the same venue.
