After letting the mighty Praying Mantises taste their first ever defeat earlier this morning, SSU Deer has paved their way to the top with a clean 5-0 streak, inflicting the BiPSU Tigers with their fourth painful setback haunting them in this second season of Eastern Visayas Collegiate Athletic Association.
Just as how the Deer deposited a 3-point shot in the last three seconds of the first quarter, 15-24, the Tigers also managed a buzzer beater of their own at the end of second quarter, making the BiPSU trail just 5 points behind, 46-51.
Ryan Borja and Khian Radaza’s collaboration in the waning moments of the third quarter ignited a game-changing 12-point swing, propelling the score to an impressive 72-84 lead.
SSU Deer refused to stain their five consecutive wins as they overpowered the opposing team with their teamwork and determination to win as they concluded the elimination round, 113-84, clinching yet another perfect record.
Borja, declared as the star player of the game, expressed how he felt about their team’s victory.
“Malipayon po kami kay tungod nga adi amon [university] president ngan para po gihap ini han bug-os nga SSU ngan taga-Paranas.”
Meanwhile, SSU Deer is set to clash with EVSU Eagles in the semi-finals on November 4, with SSU holding a significant edge with the twice-to-beat advantage.
