The Tradesman has officially started its two-day seminar-workshop on campus journalism which aims to hone and develop the skills of aspiring campus journalists among schools in City Division of Catbalogan, held at Samar State University (SSU) Convention Center, March 18, Saturday.
The event commenced with registration of 77 participants together with their School Paper Advisers from different schools which include Antonio G. Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Engineer Ma. “Every journalist has a responsibility, a responsibility to do public service and to have an impact on society,” said Engr. Amante.
Moreover, University President Dr. Marilyn Cardoso delivered her inspirational message and told the young breed of journalists their roles as writers.
“It is indeed true that the pen is mightier than the sword as an old saying goes. There is power in the pen so there is power in writing,” said Dr. Cardoso.
“As student writers, you should be the vanguard of truth and change,” she added.
The two-day seminar-workshop covered the eight categories in the field of journalism and six of these are tackled on the first day by competent resource speakers and experts.
