IN PHOTOS | To foster connections, welcome new faces, and address key matters, Samar State University-Main Campus’ student publication, The Tradesman, held its inaugural assembly for the academic year on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the SSU Gymnasium.
After a brief delay caused by minor scheduling conflicts with other university events, the meeting became a much-anticipated moment of collaboration, marking the first major gathering since the organization welcomed its new batch of staffers on October 2 of this year. The event brought together the publication head, writers, creatives, and fresh recruits to discuss the direction of The Tradesman for the year ahead.
In a brief interview, Precious Grace Nery, editor-in-chief of The Tradesman, shared her aspirations for the publication.
“More than just a family, The Tradesman is made up of committed people who strive for the best in whatever work they do. SSU’s student publication is what it is today because of the people in it and those who endlessly support it, and I am looking forward to seeing what’s next for us this academic year,” Nery stated.
She also acknowledged the crucial role of key university officials in the publication’s growth and expressed gratitude for their unwavering support saying, “Our progress wouldn’t be possible without the support of university leaders like the former Vice President for Student Affairs and Services and now VP for Administration and Finance, the current VPSAS, and the University President.”
United by their commitment to capturing campus life, both new and returning members left the meeting inspired and ready to make their mark in the year ahead.
