In a quick interview with The Tradesman, the team was asked about their preparation to snatch both titles for SSU and their goals for this year’s fight to the crown.
“The preparation that we had with the candidates, we really had to upgrade the strategies that we had, recalibration of the techniques, especially with the mentoring of our candidates in every aspect,” said Head Coach Ella Pacaña on the rigor of the candidates’ training in securing the victory for the SSU Deer.
Despite SSU having won the title only once, Mr. SCUAA in 2019, and with the candidates’ non-placement from last year, Pacaña still feels positive and expressed her confidence that the pair will come out on top.
Furthermore, Nacario expressed her preparations for the competition and shared that she expects difficulty but will strive to enjoy her journey, “I have been training for six days, if I’m not mistaken, straight, specifically the choreo for pasarela. I’ve been practicing Q&A as well.”
“Well, nag-e-expect talaga ako nga heavy an competition, but I will do my best. Siguro, mag-enjoy nala ngadto since damo talaga an exposure, gala, and everything. Mag-eenjoy, but at the same time, diri kakalimtan an competition,” she added.
Hosted by Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU), the talent night and preliminary competition are scheduled for December 9, while the grand coronation night is set to occur the following day as per the news advisory from the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges – Region VIII (PASUC 8).
