
LOOK | Samar State University (SSU) held its briefing for athletes, coaches, and other delegates for the 38th Eastern Visayas Regional State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Games this morning, December 2, at the SSU Gymnasium.
Present at the event were University President Dr. Redentor Palencia, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Dr. Gina Españo, and Sports and Development Program Director Dr. Randy Pacadaljen, along with other faculty members, prompting the entire SSU delegation on pertinent details regarding the SCUAA games.
In her message, Dr. Españo highlighted the athletes’ responsibility in exhibiting sportsmanship and proper decorum: “Bagsik Bugsok! Aato! Aato para han kaupayan, maupay nga pag-uyag, diri nandadaya, diri nanlalamang, diri makiawayon.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Pacadaljen announced that the players will receive allowances for their concentration exclusive of their allotment for the SCUAA games proper which are expected to be released on Thursday, December 5, with their uniforms being distributed the following day.
“We will represent [SSU at] the 38th regional SCUAA games with pride and honor; let’s play according to the rules of our sports,” he added.
Furthermore, the institution’s contingents will leave for Calbayog City on December 7, while Franco Nube and Christel Joy Nacario, candidates for the Mr. and Ms. SCUAA 2024, will depart at an earlier date, December 4.
This year’s regional SCUAA meet is hosted by Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU) and will officially run from the 7th of December until the 13th for the championship competitions as well as the closing and turnover ceremony.
