SSU-College of Nursing and Health Sciences holds second BS Nutrition and Dietetics White Coat and Pinning, eighth BS Pharmacy White Coat and Pinning, and 19th BS Nursing Capping, Badge Pinning and Candle Lighting Ceremonies for 88 healthcare students at SSU Gymnasium on Friday, November 29.
Batch Biocystin of 2026 Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics comprising eleven students, was formally donned in white coats and pinned by Dr. Dolores Arteche, Dean, assisted by BSND Instructor Ms. Linelle Bless Canda, RND.
Meanwhile, Batch Dalfopristin of 2026 Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, with eighteen students, was donned in white coats and pinned with the assistance of BSP Instructors Josephine Rose Pilapil, RPh, and Venice Lucaban, RPh.
Fifty-nine student nurses from Batch Morganite of 2027 Bachelor of Science in Nursing were capped and pinned with the assistance of BSN Instructors Dr. Dolores Arteche, Dr. Rheajane Rosales, Jeanette Sabio, RN, MAN, and Mary Ann Apacible, RN, MAN. Meanwhile the program continued with the lighting of candles led by 4th-year BSN student Sophia Rojas dressed as Florence Nightingale.
Following the traditional sequence, the event officially started with a Eucharistic celebration followed by a professional march by the nursing students with their parents, then the official ceremony.
Vanessa Adenal expressed her profound gratitude to those who helped her achieve her goals, acknowledging their sacrifices and contributions in her speech.
Led by Linelle Bless Canda, RND, Eddielyn Bobiles, MSPh, and Lawrence Quincy Quiaño, RN, the Nutrition and Dietetics Creed, Oath of Pharmacy and the Florence Nightingale pledge, respectively, formally sealed the duties of each healthcare student who took the oath.
“The struggles that we had to endure, and the hurdles that we will need to overcome tomorrow are important because they serve as the soil that will nourish our growth. They showed us only a glimpse of what it takes to be a professional healthcare worker, and now transformed us into who we are today – resilient, adaptable, and empathetic to others,” said Franco Nube, in his words of gratitude.
This momentous event serves as a symbol that each student was able to successfully accomplish all necessary requirements for them to demonstrate their clinical expertise in their respective fields as future healthcare workers.
