Samar State University Commission on Elections (SSU – COMELEC) issued a clarification regarding the disqualification of six DASIG candidates following a statement by the party’s vice-presidential candidate Christian Montejo during the October 17 miting de avance.
Montejo mentioned two reasons for the disqualification of his party’s candidates, one of which was a “conflict with COMELEC.”
In response, SSU – COMELEC clarified that the disqualification was strictly due to the candidates’ failure to meet the required documentary and qualification standards, and not due to arbitrary or personal conflicts.
The Commission affirmed that the decision was made following due process and in alignment with the Constitution and Bylaws to ensure a fair and transparent election process.
