The net stands tall once again as the Palaro SSU 2024 Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Tournament – Double Eliminations rounds up its final matchups to finally decide the units that will be joining the championship match of the two-day sporting event at the SSU Quadrangle today.
The College of Industrial Technology held down the fort against the College of Nursing and Health Sciences in their morning decider in the Women’s 9th game. CIT chipped CoNHS girls’ defense with dragged out rallies and stable digs—the squad rejected a deuce and denied CoNHS’ redemption efforts sparked by CoNHS service sets, ultimately eliminating the latter, 2-0.
In their fated rematch, CAS came hitting with a vengeance, exchanging fiery attacks with CoEd from the get go in the men’s game 10. The third set was a heated race for the match point as CoEd keeps holding on, but, CAS fed CoEd the bitter loss from their last meetup with a block to close the grudge match—eliminating the boys in blue, 2-1.
No second chances for the College of Industrial Technology women pool in the 10th women’s game as the College of Education drubbed CIT in their rematch. The CoEd-ettes edged out CIT in the nail-biter second set deuce and finally crossed out CIT’s record, 2-0.
With three units remaining in both men’s and women’s categories, the championship-hopefuls are duking it out for the remaining volleyball finals tickets and will be on a collision course with SSU – Paranas Campus in the championship decider as both Paranas men and women achieved their twice-to-beat status in the double eliminations. In the men’s, it’s the sly College of Industrial Technology planning to subdue the boys in yellow—CAS. Meanwhile, in the women’s category, it is the CoEd-ettes of the College of Education against the College of Arts and Sciences.
