Athletes from across the universities of SSU gathered at the SSU Tennis Court to showcase their mastery in the Sepak Takraw Tournament during SSU Palaro 2024.
With the College of Engineering and SSU – Mercedes Campus not fielding entries, the College of Nursing and Health Sciences and the College of Health Sciences kickstarted the men’s division tournament with a thrilling exchange of tactical prowess. However, it was CAS that emerged victorious, 2-0 (15-9, 15-8).
Afterwards, the College of Industrial Technology managed to defeat the College of Education in a tightly contested men’s division game, edging out their foe, 2-1 (6-15, 15-11, 15-8).
Following two men’s division games, the College of Education and the College of Industrial Technology initiated the women’s division clash. After a hard-fought battle, CIT came back from a 1-0 deficit to earn their first win, 2-1 (11-15, 15-11, 15-5).
In the next match, CAS and CIT put on a stellar display of skill. After three sets of offensive exchanges, CIT narrowly defeated CAS in a men’s division decision match, 2-1 (15-17, 15-8, 15-9).
In the men’s division, the College of Education played a double-header, securing a victory against CoNHS, 2-1 (15-12, 15-10), but suffering their first loss of the tournament against CAS, 2-1 (13-15, 15-11, 15-10).
Meanwhile, the women’s division saw CAS engage in back-to-back duels against CIT and CoEd, taking losses against both teams, 2-1 (15-11, 10-15, 13-15) and 2-1 (8-15, 15-10, 7-15), respectively.
After the elimination round, CIT and CAS will face off in the finals, while SSU-PC and CoEd will battle for third place. In the women’s category, CIT and CoEd will compete to claim the championship title.
