The Golden Boy of the Philippines makes history once again as he sticks his landing in the Olympic Podium, capturing the Philippines’ and his second gold medal after winning the men’s vault at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Carlos Yulo garnered a final score of 15.116 to propel him towards the top spot among eight competitors, his momentum was dictated by his first vault that tallied 15.433, which was the best vault performance of the event, and a second vault of 14.800 that secured his win.
Trailing closely behind Yulo is the 2022 world’s vault champion, Almeria’s Artur Davtyan who put up a final score of 14.966, and bagging the bronze medal is Great Britain’s Harry Hepworth with a final score of 14.949.
His triumph this 2024 Olympics is a comeback performance after he failed to win a medal during his first Olympic appearance in Tokyo, 2020.
This historic achievement by Yulo etches his name in the pantheon of the greatest Philippine athletes, as he becomes the country’s first Olympian to win two golds.
