ICYMI | In a Facebook post, Samar State University alumna and now an SSU – Samar Island GIS and Data Analytics Center Project Development Officer, Charlote Pornias, shared an online multi-sectoral survey on the proposed establishment of College of Law at SSU Main Campus on Thursday.
Pornias emphasized the initiative led by Atty. Brian Joseph Almeria, Administrative IV, from the SSU Legal Office, to establish the SSU College of Law in Samar, aiming to “enhance accessibility and ensure quality legal education.”
“The purpose of this survey is threefold. First, it aims to assess and balance the interest and potential enrollment numbers in relation to the schools capacity to accommodate students effectively. Second, it seeks to gauge public interest and awareness regarding pursuing a law degree at SSU. Lastly, the survey intends to gather insights on the acceptable and reasonable tuition fees that prospective students would consider fair and feasible, ensuring accessible education at SSU,” Pornias’ post reads, gathering public feedback to shape the college’s development.
“As someone who advocates for education, I support this proposal knowing that there are a lot of aspirants who [don’t] have the means to study law. I think it’s high time to give our fellow Samarnons access to quality legal education,” she said in an interview.
According to Atty. Almeria, this proposal was made during the last Academic Council meeting by his team composed of Flora Perez, Legal Assistant III, Christine Joy Dacallos-Mendiola, Legal Assistant II, and Rhine Bonifacio, Administrative Assistant in the SSU Legal Office.
