Everything in moderation, too much of a good thing is always a bad thing.
Every 11th of July, we celebrate the Day of Five Billion. Tracing its origins back to 1987 when the global population reached approximately 5 billion, every July 11 we celebrate World Population Day.
Taken at face value, the increase in global population might seem like a good thing, but the rapid increase in the overall population of the world has brought about and will continue to bring several challenges. Managing resources will become increasingly difficult as the population grows, leading to overexploitation of natural resources, the more environmental abuse, which will eventually result in greater competition for basic necessities such as food, water, and shelter
So to ensure that everyone can enjoy basic necessities and resources the world has to offer, let us do our part in spreading awareness about global population issues and their impact on sustainable development.
