The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – VIII started its first day of orientation and training for the “Tara, Basa!” Tutoring Program, aimed at building the capabilities of tutors and Youth Development Workers (YDWs), at the SSU Convention Center, June 3.
This 5-day training will expose participants to activity sessions and discussions with the larger goal of actively involving them in eradicating illiteracy among Filipino children.
The “Tara, Basa!” Tutoring Program is DSWD’s revamped educational assistance initiative designed to create a learning environment where college students are trained and deployed as tutors and Youth Development Workers (YDWs) to help improve the reading skills of elementary students who are struggling to read or are non-readers.
