Having its last edition in 2020 shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic started, Miss Gay University, comes back to Arteche Boulevard this May 2024.
Now rebranded as Queen Samar State University, SSU Student Council opened its online application last May 1 until today, May 4, through a Facebook post.
In a short interview, USC President Joshua Ibajo stated his driving force in bringing back the said pageant, “Way back pre-pandemic, the pageant was already existing. With that, we, [the council,] want to continue the celebration of equality, diversity, and connection in our campus together with the other external campuses as well.”
Further, according to Ibajo, the application deadline will be extended to Monday, May 6, to allow colleges and external campuses lacking representatives to conduct their own internal screening processes.
“May-ada po pre-pageant na magaganap and other activities; however, the organizing team is still on the process of finalizing the schedule of activities po,” Ibajo added.
“On process po kami as of the moment with our papers and communication letters. With regards naman po ha logistics, we are doing our best to gather more resources to make this pageant successful,” the USC president expressed about the current state of event preparations.
The final list of Queen SSU candidates and the pageant schedule will be posted by the University Student Council after applications are finalized.
