“Protect and Restore Ecosystems and Biodiversity” is the theme of this year’s Philippine Month of the Ocean, which calls for action and attention from every community to take charge of protecting our oceans and take action to reverse the effects of a global phenomena that affect coastal life and human life.
Through Presidential Proclamation No. 57, issued in 1999, this war to mitigate and raise awareness regarding the significance and protection of the ocean to the coastal inhabitants and human benefits is strengthened. The Department of Agriculture and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources hold hands and devote their commitment to the sustainable use and conservation of the waters of the Earth.
We, people around the world, are the only hope to conserve and protect this single instrument that connect the lands around the world and gives life to the people and animals under the water for the present and future generations.
Let’s take this moment to reflect on our actions towards the ocean. The calamities we experience and the danger of heat that we feel each day are the main products of the ocean we forgot to love and take care of. This is our new mission, to build our vision for a healthier Earth in the future.
