After being cancelled twice due to the rising local heat index and conflict of schedule, the highly anticipated and award-winning short and sweet musical play, Patik, went live for the first time ever at the Samar State University (SSU) Gymnasium facade during the flag raising ceremony today, May 20, 2024.
Present to witness the live performance for the Tradesman community were the newly designated Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF), Engr. Ma. Lourdes P. Amante and Vice President for Student Affairs and Services (VPSAS), Dr. Gina U. Españo, as well as the Vice President for Research and Extension Services (VPRE), Engr. Mirador G. Labrador, including university faculty, staff and employees, and students alike.
“At last, they were able to perform and showcase their talents, and not just the talents but the pride that we’ve brought to the national level, of the SSU students. We are very much thankful nga damo an kumanhi liwat nga nagkita to patronize, and of course to acknowledge or give recognition to the efforts and for the celebration of what we brought for Samar State University from the national PASUC competition,” said Joan J. Baclay, Head of University Radio and trainer for the said play, on the casts’ long-awaited performance which finally took place.
Additionally, the student performers, coaches, and trainers of the nationally acclaimed musical play were awarded certificates of recognition by the Office of the University President for bringing pride to SSU as representatives of the region at the 11th Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges – National Culture and the Arts Festival last April 23-25, held at the Philippine Normal University.
