As keynote speakers, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Dr. Ronald Adamat and King of Talk Dr. Boy Abunda graced the 2024 National Campus Journalism Convention today, April 28, at the Manila Grand Opera Hotel, Sta. Cruz, Manila.
In the Man of Peace’s words, Dr. Adamat underscored the immense potential of campus journalists as true champions of peace.
He further stated that it is because campus journalists are informed, educated, and socially aware who are able to understand the complexities of the challenges of world issues from climate change to social issues.
Moreover, the King of Talk, Dr. Abunda primarily talked about the societal expectation to public figures — to not be too onion-skinned to how public figures also use private narratives just to gain public image.
On the other hand, he also shared approaches that a journalist can do when throwing questions to a sensitive and personal topic.
Dr. Abunda also reminded campus journalists that to hold people accountable, the best steps are to take the risk, know the law, and know your boundaries.
