Samar State University’s Gender and Development (GAD) Unit, through SSU’s Advocacy on Gender and Women Advancement for National Development (SAGWAN), sparked the beginning of the National Women’s Month celebration with a parade that brought together faculty, staff, and students in a demonstration of support for gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Following the parade, the SSU grounds came alive with the opening program, followed by an art exhibit at the SSU convention center, setting the stage for a month-long celebration of women’s achievement and contribution.
“Women’s months is not just a celebration, but a call to action. It is a reminder of the unfinished work towards achieving gender equality and justice for all,”
SAGWAN director Charmaine R. Quiña said during the opening program.
The activities resonate with messages of resilience and inclusivity, highlighting the commitment to fostering a diverse and empowering environment.
