Bark, bark, bark! 🐕🐾
Pursuant to Executive order No. 84, series of 1999, March is designated to be Rabies Awareness Month.
March is an important time to educate ourselves and others about this deadly yet preventable disease. Rabies, caused by a virus transmitted through the bite or scratch of an infected animal, primarily affect mammals, including humans. Once symptoms appear, rabies is almost always fatal. However, with proper awareness and preventive measures, countless lives can be saved.
During Rabies Awareness Month, we emphasize the significance of vaccinating pets and livestock, as well as avoiding contact with wild animals. It is crucial to seek immediate medical attention if bitten or scratched by any suspect animal. Additionally, teaching children about rabies and promoting responsible pet ownership can significantly reduce the risk of infection.
This March, let us unite in raising awareness about rabies and its consequences. By promoting vaccination, responsible animal care, and safe interactions with wildlife, we can work together to prevent the spread of this disease and protect both human and animal populations.
