FEBRUARY 12, 2024 — First flag raising ceremony of the second semester of A.Y. 2023-2024 at the Samar State University Maceda Gymnasium facade doubled as the soft-launching for the university’s celebration of this year’s National Arts Month dubbed as “Kabilin 2024: Katbari han Kultura Samarnon” spearheaded by the Office of Arts & Cultural Heritage Programs (ACHeP) and Research Center for Cultural and Social Issues (RCCSI) in partnership with the Social Studies Circle.
Meanwhile, newly appointed Arts and Cultural Director, Prof. Jhonil C. Bajado delivered the celebration’s inaugural speech, “Whether as students, faculty, or civil servants – let us all be reminded that knowing one’s identity is tantamount to self actuation, pagkakalugaringon, that would make us reflect for a better version of ourselves as a people and as a community in general.”
Lined with cultural competitions, and scheduled with a book launching as well as a cultural development planning, the university, with this month-long celebration seeks to recognize and cultivate the diverse cultural legacy of the province of Samar.
