Exactly 10 years ago today, the world witnessed the devastating force of nature as Super Typhoon Yolanda, internationally known as Haiyan, unleashed its fury upon our beloved nation. It tore through our communities, leaving a trail of unimaginable devastation and despair. Homes were uprooted, livelihoods were washed away; making countless lives forever altered.
In the aftermath of the devastation, we were confronted with the fragility of our existence, and the fleeting nature of our material possessions.
Yet, in the face of overwhelming adversity, communities banded together, demonstrating unwavering courage and solidarity. Strangers became allies, extending a helping hand to those in need, and showing the world the true meaning of compassion. We were reminded that amidst the chaos and loss, the core of our humanity remained steadfast and unyielding.
Today, November 8, 2023, we remember the solemn anniversary of Super Typhoon Yolanda, a day to honor the resilience of those who refused to be broken, the generosity of those who offered support, and the dedication of those who tirelessly worked to rebuild what was lost.
