Shelter is my right.
As we observe today’s World Habitat Day, with its theme of “Resilient urban economies. Cities as drivers of growth and recovery,” which takes an even more significance as the world still grapples with over 1 billion of people worldwide who does not have a home, which is being exacerbated by effects on the urban economies made by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Let this day be a reminder that it is your right to have accessibility towards an adequate shelter and resilient cities, as they are fundamental stepping stones in gaining opportunities for personal growth and in the growing economy.
With this we can work towards a future where all human beings no longer live on streets but in the safe pillars of their homes.
