We Innovate. We Build. We Serve.
This is the Samar State University mantra depicted in the newly adopted emblematic regalia of the beloved academe, in lieu of the age-old traditioned Western toga— the magnificent SSU Kamagi, now finally wore by SSU’s Class of 2023 during this year’s recently concluded 88th Commencement Exercises.
Last Tuesday, June 6, marked as the last rite of passage of the graduates from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), Mercedes, and Paranas Campus who marched onstage with dignity to receive their diplomas while cloaked in ecru dress or Barong Tagalog with the SSU Kamagi draped across their hearts in the second day of the momentous Conferral ceremony.
The Academic Procession, along with the university officials was graced by the multi-awarded Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Regional Director and Commencement Speaker, Dir. Celerina T. Bato and the dynamic University President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso at the SSU Maceda Gymnasium.
Sharing her wisdom in her keynote address, Dir. Bato brought attention to the theme of the event, leaving a powerful reminder of the immense value of quality education in attaining life-long learning. “The theme underscores how significant the quality higher education is in lifelong learning as well as its sustainability… Continue to yearn for learning, as learning is lifelong and a continuous process,” Dir. Bato said.
Data from the Office of the University Registrar showed that SSU President officially conferred academic degrees in baccalaureate level on a total of 934 graduates from CAS and the two aforementioned SSU satellite campuses as of June 6. Proudly presented by the SSU Paranas Campus Director Dr. Lourdes C. Delmonte, SSU Mercedes Campus Director Dr. Ricardo V. Severo Jr., and the Dean of College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Florabelle B. Patosa, these exceptional individuals marked a milestone in their educational journey.
Samar State University earlier on Tuesday announced the remarkable achievement of 59 cum laude graduates fitted for distinction from different colleges and programs. Meanwhile, Rodel A. Gaceja, now a Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education (BT-VTEd) degree holder from SSU Mercedes Campus, reveled in a hard-fought success as one of the two magna cum laude graduates of the Class of 2023.
