The second day of the College of Engineering Days was made grand as it gave prominence to the beauty and intelligence of the college’s studentry during the search for Mr. and Ms. Engineering 2022, November 17, held at the CoEng’g Grounds.
Out of eight candidates for both Mr. and Ms. Engineering, Civil Engineering students Lucky Dela Cruz from Team Hades and Lian Angel Ocenar from Team Zeus dominated the said pageant as they were crowned as this year’s Mr. and Ms. Engineering, respectively.
Mister Engineering Dela Cruz also bagged special awards including Mr. Photogenic and Mr. Eloquence while Miss Engineering Ocenar captured the eyes and hearts of the people as she won People’s Choice Award via Facebook reaction.
First runner-up in the said pageant were Jhevancy Armeza from Team Athena and Nissi Joy Carit from Team Hades. Meanwhile, Ken Bryan De Castro from Team Zeus and Jameela Balite from Team Athena clinched 2nd runner-up. Peter Enjambre and Richelle Nablo, both from Team Athena, placed 3rd runner-up followed by Philip Carl Mana from Team Zeus and Clynce Nicole Piczon from Hades, placing 4th runner-up.
Special and minor awards were also given to the candidates. For Mr. Engineering, 1st runner-up Armeza bagged People’s Choice Award, Best in Production, Best in School Wear, and Best in Casual Wear. Moreover, 3rd runner-up Enjambre and 4th runner-up Mana took Best in Sports Wear and Mr. Professionalism, respectively. Mister Congeniality was Statis Abitria from Team Poseidon.
Miss Engineering 2nd runner-up Balite hailed as Ms. Photogenic and Best in Production. Third runner-up Nablo was Best in Sports Wear while 4th runner-up Piczon was named Ms. Eloquence, Best in School Wear, and Best in Casual Wear. Meanwhile, Annierose Abalos from Poseidon clinched special awards including Ms. Congeniality and Ms. Professionalism.
In the final question-and-answer portion, the top five male candidates were asked on what the hardest in winning and losing is, while the top five female candidates were asked how they will be a catalyst in narrowing the gender gap in the field of engineering as women are frequently underrepresented in academic and professional engineering fields.
Candidates were given one minute to express their answers.
