In continuation of CAS Days, College of Arts and Sciences Department carried through Cultural Contest at Samar State University to highlight the talents of the students on October 27, second day, after Rumpagas was launched.
Competing teams joined the following contest categories: Pop Solo, Vocal Duet, Hip-hop Dance, Dagliang Talumpati, Painting and Drawing, and Spoken Word Poetry, and Extemporaneous Speech organized by the Cultural Affair Coordinator Mark Angelo Bathan, together with the CAS faculty, staff and Provincial Officers.
Gray team went in for the victory as they grabbed the top spot for the Overall Ranking in Cultural and Sports activities.
The mentioned team won first place in Pop Solo, Vocal Duet, Drawing, and Spoken Word Poetry. Winners from the team were the following: Jasmin Lesiques (average score: 91.0), and the duo Jayson Osabel and Angeline Leona (82) wowed the audience with their powerful voices in Pop Solo and Vocal Duet respectively. Pernito Lugana Jr. secured the first spot in the Drawing Contest, with an average score of 84.75. While in Spoken Word Poetry, Honey Lyn Moreno succeeded as the champion.
Green Team proved they can beat off the other teams when their Hip-hop Dance Group obtained an average score of 88.3 and was declared as the winner. From the same team, Hazel Pacayra, with 33.4 points, in Dagliang Talumpati, and Irish Imperial who got an average score of 77.5 in Painting took the lead.
Meanwhile, William Cartel from the Red Team achieved victory in the Extemporaneous Speech tilt.
Announcement and awarding of winners were held during the Acquaintance Party, evening of the same day.
