Why is journalism fundamental to society? What is the role of journalists in the democratic election? How do they carry on with their role as truth defenders when attacked with lies?
The Official Student Publication of Samar State University- THE TRADESMAN organizes a webinar with the theme “ON THE BEAT: Campus Journalism in the Age of Misinformation and its Role in Socio-Political Context.”
The overall program brings forth awareness and understanding of the state of media in the upcoming election, the roles and responsibilities of journalists in upholding and protecting democratic ideals in this age when fake news is proliferating, and the continuing influence of media in shaping political consciousness.
Confirmed speakers include Lance Paolo Lim, a Journalism fellow in Rappler, and Marisol Abdurahman, an award-winning reporter in GMA; both are journalists and continuously remain at the forefront in holding the line.
The webinar, happening on Friday, April 29 at 1 pm, will be participated by Campus Journalists from secondary and tertiary levels.
